Orne's Empanada Dough

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 6oz melted unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup water

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and salt together in a bowl, whisk until combined.
  2. In a separated bowl, combine the butter, 1 egg and water.
  3. Make a nest with the flour on a clean work surface. Add the liquids and mix until you have a dough.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes and cover with plastic. Let it rest for 20min.
  5. After letting them rest, separate the dough into 12 balls. Cover in plastic and let it rest for 15min.
  6. Roll each ball into a circle and add the desired filling, close the empanada and set aside.
  7. Lightly beat the remaining egg and brush each empanada, puncture the top with a fork so the dough doesn't explode.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 15 min or until golden brown
